Your generous contributions go directly towards helping educators-in-need get themselves to Camp...
What's the difference between a scholarship and a bursary, you ask?
Scholarships are aimed at rewarding a good scholar and are based on academic merit, and achievement in other categories (sports!), and may be renewable.
Bursaries are distributed on the basis of financial need.
And we know a lot of sex educators who're in need!
While we design Camp to be affordable—less than $120/day for Campers, and we feed them, too!—every extra little bit can greatly help. $25 can help someone take their camping gear to the airport in a Lyft instead of dragging it on and off a city bus. $100 can help an educator-in-need afford childcare for those days their friends aren't available. Several donations of $200 can help aid several passionate people cover their Camp tuition....
Funds contributed to the Camper Scholarship and Bursary Fund will be distributed as we have them to help Campers who request financial assistance.
Why Bursary?
The reason the fund says scholarship and bursary is two fold: 1) Most people have never heard of a bursary, and scholarship being a word with a more common understanding is useful for promoting fund awareness. 2) Bursary allows us to clarify that the fund's focus is on serving educators with financial needs. Note on Camp scholarships: Educators awarded Camp Scholarships, usually for participating or winning a SGSC contest, are awarded scholarships out of Reid's pocket. Camp Scholarships do not dip into bursary funds.
